Something blue

September 21, 2020

Looking for ‘something blue’ to complete your bridal look?  We can help! We’ve all heard the old saying to bring you good luck on your big day – something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue… We know lots of our Elite Brides spend time carefully collecting all these items ahead of their weddings, and often you count your gown from us as your something new!  So we’d like to offer a helping hand with one more item on your list. There are lots of ways you can add a hint of blue to your bridal look, without making it part of your theme… During your alterations appointment, our seamstresses will now offer you the opportunity to have a small blue bow subtly stitched into the lining of your dress.  It’s completely complimentary, and it’s one last good luck wish from Elite Bridal for your big day! This new idea comes from Holly-Ann, Retail Director for Elite Bridal – who knows that when brides return to our boutiques for their fittings, the smallest details really can make all the difference.  “Finishing touches are extremely important,” she says, “and I want our brides to feel really valued.” Or how about hiding one of these gorgeous garters for your groom?  Another easy way to conceal a touch of blue in your bridal outfit with your guests none the wiser!  This simple garter is available in all our boutiques – just ask your bridal advisor about our wide range of bridal accessories. Slip on this beautiful shawl in barely-there blue chiffon.  Our pastel blue is pale enough to provide the perfect accent to any gorgeous ivory gown, and the chiffon is light enough to be comfortable and catch on even the slightest summer breeze – a gorgeous addition to your wedding photos. And if you want some extra good juju for your wedding day – or just love the colour blue – how about making it a part of your theme?  We have beautiful blue bridesmaid dresses in a variety of shades, styles and sizes – and, of course, the chiffon shawls to match. Whether or not you’re thinking blue for your theme, don’t miss our amazing bridesmaid offer – you could get up to three maids’ dresses completely free with your own gown! How are you planning to incorporate something blue in your big day?  If you have more ideas or are doing something completely different for your wedding, we’d love to hear about it! Celeb wedding: Get Hailey’s look

September 21, 2020

We’re getting the first pictures through of Hailey Baldwin (now Beiber!)’s stunning bridal gown… and we’re smitten! We knew Hailey’s ceremony gown was going to be a stunner.  When a high fashion model marries a pop prince, you know every aspect of that wedding – especially the dress – is going to go down in history.  And Hailey’s choices, from start to finish, didn’t disappoint.   If you’ve been watching our Insta Stories, you might have caught us swooning over Hailey’s rehearsal dinner outfit when photos were released last week.   We loved the off-the-shoulder cut then and, though both Hailey and Justin opted for quite a casual look for their rehearsal, the bodice of Hailey’s bodycon minidress really reminded us of one of our gorgeous satin ballgowns! When Hailey unveiled her look for the big day, we were cheering along with the rest of the bridal world. Again she chose an off-the-shoulder cut – must be a firm favourite! – but this time Hailey favoured a drop dead gorgeous mermaid gown in full, elaborate lace.  She announced on Instagram that her ‘dream dress’ was designed especially for her by Virgil Abloh. We were even more excited because Hailey’s gown gave us real déjà vu over the grand finale gown in our latest collection. We were already in love with this gown, so spotting Hailey in her stunning lookalike was a giddy moment! In comparison, our showstopper has chiffon detailing for a bit more volume in the fishtail skirt, and beautiful bell sleeves for that extra bohemian touch. Hailey also caused a stir with her showstopping but quirky veil, which read ’till death do us part’ in custom embellishment…  Scroll down to see for yourself! Like Hailey, we love a personal touch.  It’s why we work with our amazing design team to offer such a wide range of custom alterations, meaning you can take any of our styles and create a gown that’s truly your own. And while we don’t normally embellish our veils with custom lettering, this does sometimes extend to our veils!  Working directly with the designers of our gowns means you can request a custom veil edged with the lace or beading from your dress. Another finishing touch we offer completely free of charge is our something blue bow – this can be concealed inside your dress so only you know it’s there, and is a bit of good luck from Elite Bridal to carry with you on your big day! If you’re in love with the boho look but Hailey’s style isn’t for you, we have so much choice and variety in our new boho-inspired collection… For more pics, make sure you check out our social media – you’ll find us @EliteBridalUK on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter – and come along to our next Elite Bridal Show, which is at Kings Croft Hotel in Pontefract on Sunday 20th October, where we’ll be showcasing our latest collections!  Just drop us a message to book.

Happy Halloween!

September 21, 2020

With creepy chic all around and celebs getting married in haunted mansions, we’re loving the number of brides coming to us with spooktacular wedding plans! We’ve had brides asking us for colloured wedding dresses and bespoke veils. We’ve heard some incredible ideas for tasteful Halloween themes, or just ways to bring an autumnal look into our brides’ big days. And we were really excited to hear that one of our favourite celebs, Jennifer Lawrence, got married in a haunted mansion on Rhode Island last week!   In typical JLaw fashion, the wedding itself was kept very private and almost entirely out of the press.  We’ve had almost no photos of her Dior gown… which apparently had its own hotel room the night before the wedding! But from what little we can see it was a gorgeous sparkly number with a high neck and sleeves – very on trend as we head for winter!   If you want to emulate JLaw’s look with your own gown, we have plenty of options to inject a bit of sparkle. Check out this gorgeous glittering gown, perfect to catch the eye as you walk up the aisle – then catch the light on the dancefloor! As for JLaw’s wedding, we do know that she and her now-husband Cooke Maroney’s celebrations started at about 6pm, as dark was setting in, and that multiple wedding guests turned up dressed head-to-toe in black – smart and fashion-forward, but in keeping with the Halloween vibes. If you’re looking for subtle, classy ways to give your wedding (and your wedding photos) a theme or distinct feel, there are so many ways you can do this…   Feeling Halloweeny, but want to keep things classy?  Guests wearing black to a wedding is quite unusual, and has actually traditionally been a sign you’re wishing bad luck on the bride and groom!  But wearing darker colours to weddings, ewspecially in autumn and winter, is not just getting more socially acceptable – it’s become a style trend in its own right. Throwback to when Kim Kardashain married Kris Humphries way back in 2011.  Their nuptuals hit the headlines for a whole load of reasons… but one of the most striking things about Kim’s style choices was her chic monochrome dress code.  Her entire bridal wore white, and guests were asked to keep their own outfits colour-free as well – which obviously meant a lot of black!  While (as far as we can tell) the same dress code wasn’t imposed at her wedding to Kanye West, Kim’s overall tastes obviously hadn’t changed much, and there was a strong monochrome vibe. When it’s endorsed by one of the most prominent fashion icons of the 20th century, you know your style choice is on point – and a bit of black for Halloween is not just fine but can be seriously classy! But if you, like a lot of brides, aren’t down with guests wearing black at your wedding, there are more subtle ways you can ask your friends and family to bring in a theme. For example, why not ask them in the invitation to wear autumnal colours on the day? It’ll give your wedding photos a gorgeous seasonal vibe, without going dark and colour-free for a hard and fast Halloween look. We’ve also been checking out some lighter and brighter options for injecting a little seasonal gorgeousness into your wedding. Why not add a cocktail of autumn leaves and berries to your bouquet rather sticking to traditional floral displays? And decorate your venue with a gorgeous woodland vibe in mind for an ethereal boho touch. You could depart even further from the Halloween vibe and monochrome, and bring blush or champagne into your own bridal style. Our coloured gowns look incredible with the autumnal colour palate, and offer something a little different too! Pumpkins as wedding decorations are bang on trend this season, especially with a few creative touches! We personally love the rose gold trend which has really hit its peak over the last few years…  If you’re feeling crafty, rose gold spray paint is a cute DIY idea to trim up your homemade wedding decorations. You can easily match this to some of our beautiful rose gold bridal accessories, beautiful all year round but perfect for this time of year. To see our full accessories collection, drop by or book an appointment and chat to one of our bridal advisors – we have everything from veils and hairpieces to jewellery and bridal belts. If you’re looking for more autumn style inspo, check out our window display in Brighouse right now! What would your wedding style be, and how will you be adding your own personal touch?  Would you ever consider a Halloween wedding? Drop us a message through Facebook, Instagram or Twitter @EliteBridalUK and tell us all about your big day!

Designers’ Roadtrip

September 21, 2020

With brand new samples arriving for our 2020 collections, our designers were inspired to give some of them a road-test last week! As you’ll know if you’ve visited any of our boutiques or checked out our website, all our gowns are designed right here in Yorkshire by our own amazing design team – featuring Kate, one of our lead designers, as a model! New samples are now arriving of the gowns our design team have been working on for our new 2020 collections, and this inspired a roadtrip to try out some of our new samples in the gorgeous Yorkshire surroundings. Holly, another of our lead designers, says, “Both Kate and I have such a passion for bridal, and when we get together that’s when the creativity really begins. “We finally had a morning together so decided to have a drive out and road-test our new collection.  We both drive past beautiful places every day and get inspired by the gorgeous surroundings – beautiful scenery, rolling hills, a picturesque bridge.”   When Holly wanted something autumnal, Kate knew the perfect spot.  They soon found themselves in some beautiful woodland, snapping shots of the new bridal collection.  The autumn leaves set off our blush gown perfectly. “Thank goodness for coffee!” says Holly.  “It was such a cold day, but all the leaves were so crisp, and it was perfect for snapping some shots of the new gowns.  It was slightly less perfect when I could see Kate’s skin going blue… “Kate’s a real trooper,” says Holly.  “She’s not just a designer.  She’s also one of our lead seamstresses who brides often meet during their fitting appointments – and, as you can see, she models many of our new gowns to make sure they’re the perfect fit!” Kate (designer, seamstress and model for the day), says, “”Every day at Elite Bridal is an adventure.  So often we say, ‘I have this idea – but I only have an hour!’ and then magic happens. “When our design team get together there’s so much creative energy, and it means each dress has its own little story.” What do you think?  If you’re planning an autumn or winter wedding, could this be your bridal look? “Kate got a few beeps from passing tractors,” added Holly, “so we felt like we were hitting the mark!” For some of our designers, it was the first time they’d seen the new 2020 styles in person since the original samples were built on mannequins in our Design Room.  When new collections first arrive, it’s an exciting day for us as well as our brides! We’re really excited to showcase our new styles for 2020 at our Elite Bridal Christmas Show in Hull on Sunday.  If you haven’t already booked your free tickets, drop us a message! If you’d like to try our gorgeous 2019 collections for size, head to elite.gb.net/appointments and book yours now. With our own in-house design team on hand, all of whom are passionate about bringing you the most beautiful gowns imaginable, don’t forget to ask about custom alterations if a gown is almost but not quite perfect for you.
